July 2018 - July 2020
Que dicen perros?!
It has been an interesting week for sure. hahaha It was the first week for Elder Sandoval in the campo and I really hope I wasn't like that when it was my first week. hahahaha. He walks like 30 feet behind me and doesn't talk at all so it's pretty tough but we're working on it! I mean I'm pretty sure I talked more than him in my first week and I could barely speak spanish hahaha. He's a super cool guy though but just really shy and he likes to sleep. We'll just have to get the ball rolling with him! It was a pretty tough week for finding people to teach but we're working our butts off. We weren't able to have the 3 baptisms last week. The couple finally got married yesterday which is super awesome! They have been working to get married for baptism for the last 6 months hahaha and it took so long because 1- Mexicans are suuuuper lazy and can't do anything. and 2- the stupid government doesn't know what they're doing hahaha. We're gonna have their baptism this week for sure and also the baptism of another joven named Julio. Hoping it is a pretty good week but we just have to keep working to make it even better! A veces things blows but the odra del Señor is there to help. This last saturday we played futbol with the youth in the ward and some of these kids are freaking insane hahaha. We bet coke on the games and needless to say we got destroyed hahaha so we bought coke for like 20 kids. It was a good time for sure. After futbol they all wanted to play basketball with me and you already know we plowed them. It's too bad though because now my back hurts...from carrying the team. hahaha Today for p-day we just walked around Macuspana and bought ice cream and stuff. It was the day I needed for sure. hahaha Sometimes it feels like we are robots out here! Well, ya it was super short but that's all I've got for the week! hahaha Love you all and have a good week! Adioooo

Hola Perros!
Good news I'm a papá!!! Hahahaha We had cambios today and I found out that I'm training! Today we went to Villa to pick up mi hijo and it's definitely going to be interesting. His name is Elder Sandoval and he's from Sinaloa, Mexico! Not gonna lie I'm a little nervous but it's all gonna be good. He's suuuuper shy though so we've gotta break him out a little bit and get him into the mission life. We literally just talk to people all day hahah. It's gonna be awesome though! This last week was pretty dang uneventful la verdad. We were hoping that we were going to baptize Fernando y Irene this weekend (the people that need to get married) but the paper that they need didn't get here until today. Entonces I think we are going to have their baptism this week. Honestly who knows hahaha The legal system down here is such garbage you never know what is going to happen! Pero tenemos fe que los Mexicanos puedan sacar sus pulgares de sus anos y cumplir las cosas con bien lol. We also are teaching this joven named Julio who has 14 years and honestly is what they call a "golden investigator" hahaha This week we went for a followup cita and asked him how his reading went and he said "ahh well I mean it was alright, I wasn't able to read that much, only like 6 or 7 chapters" hahahaha That doesn't sound like bastante but here it's like impossible to get people to keep compromisos hahaha. Then he said "I don't know how anyone couldn't believe this, this goes along with everything exactly" hahaha es como no manches bato, honestly a super cool kid and he'll get baptized next week! Yesterday to finish off the cambio strong Wilde and I went big and rode around in one of those triciclos from nacho libre hahaha. Just about the most mexican thing ever but it was dope! Well, that's pretty much all I've got. Hope everyone is having a good time back home and wish me luck with mi hijo!!! Adioooo! What up my dudes?
First off, I'm stoked out of my freaking mind for this communication change so now we can call every week! That's insane!!! Ok, we had a dope baptism this week with a guy named Joel, he has 24 years and when we met him he was like the most catholic person I've ever met hahahaha but this one is definitely proof that the gospel changes people! He is the esposo de una hermana en el barrio and we started teaching him like 2ish weeks ago. He dropped everything he was doing and took a swim in the waters of life hahaha. Elder Wilde did the baptism and I did my first confirmation it was so cool! It was scary as balls though cause we did it in front of the whole ward hahaha. Awesome experience though and Joel is gonna be a great convert! I can already tell! . We are hoping to have a couple more baptisms this week tambien. This pareja should get married this week so then we can baptize them this weekend! We're moving right along here in Macuspana, finding new people every day and kicking satan right in the balls. Today for pday we went iguana hunting!!!! Hahaha we went to this little pueblito called Pueblito lol with a familia in the ward and the hermanos cousin. His cousin went out to guide us to find one and it was the funniest thing ever. hahaha He was walking around with some hard liqour and a machete so just the type of guy you can trust!!! hahahaha We just about caught like 5 or 6 but they all ran into this stupid pond so it didn't turn out the best but was super fun though! We had our spears and everything hahaha. Well, that's about it for the week, so pumped to call home today. Let's see what happens!!! Love you all! Elder Steve Irwin What's up fans?
This week was probably the fastest week of my entire life hahaha! We're just working in this gosh dang heat trying not to die. It is starting to get into the super hot season but just wait for April and Mayo when it is like 115 degrees plus humidity hahaha!!! This last week was super dope though, first off we had Zone Conference in Villa which is always super fun to be with all the other missionaries and get some knowledge dropped on us by Presidente Haws! This conference we learned about the importance of obedience because it brings the best results. Also how we can mejorarnos. Super cool, Presidente used Alma 5 to show the 5 Steps of Mejoring! Paso 1:1-6, remembering our blessing. Step 2:14,15,26, Realizing our condicion right now. Step 3: 28, taking away our pride Step 4: 33-34. What can we change? Step 5: 35-36,40-41 Decide to mejorar and set goals. Honestly such an awesome conference and it is going to help a ton out here and throughout my life!! We should have a couple baptisms this week but honestly quien sabe porque no one can keep the dang compromisos hahaha. We are just waiting for some of these people to finally get married but it's gonna happen soon!! You wouldn't believe how much of a pain it is to get married down here. hahaha That's probably why no one is! This week I lived out my dream of drinking out of a coconut and it was everything I hoped it would be hahaha. We went to visit this hermana in the middle of the jungle and she didn't have any water to give us so she just cut down some coconuts hahaha. Super dope! Today for p-day we went to villa to play futbol with the zone which is always one of my favorite things because it gives me the chance to run around a bit hahaha. No one likes exercising here para nada so it's tough lol! Don't worry, I'm staying in shape though for all my ladies back home! After futbol we went up this giant watch tower which was freaking dope. You can literally see everything around because this place is so flat! Ok, I hope you enjoyed my week!!! I love you all! Adioooo! Buenas Tardes party people!
I completed 6 months in the mish this past week! How freaking crazy is that?! It was so funny Elder Wilde and I got home and Elder Pacheco and Elder Horne had boughten a bunch of stuff to celebrate hahaha. They hooked me up with a nice tiara that says "Futuro Novia" hahahah and nice rubber chicken and stuff like that hahaha It was sooo funny! I actually burned a tie hahaha I didn't think I was going to but I just though why not? I mean I'm in the middle of Mexico why not go crazy like the rest of the people here! That was probably the highlight of the week for sure. We have some awesome people that we are teaching right now too! We have like 4 people that want to get baptized really bad but none of them are married hahaha. We think at least one of them will get married this week so hopefully we'll have a baptism on Saturday! The ward here in Macuspana really is super awesome too. We get like a million references so it keeps us busy for sure! Then in this ward they do a ton of activities which is way fun for us because we can have some fun during the week and "work" at the same time hahaha. We have actually gotten a few people from the activities so it's dope. We play volleyball every Wednesday and Friday and then we have our English class on Saturday! It's a super fun way to get involved with the members and it gives you a nice little break too. On Sunday, one of the members invited us over to eat and watch the Super Bowl so that was fun. A boring game but fun to hang with the members. Today we went and helped an hermana cambia houses which is pretty much what I've practiced my whole life for am I right mom? Hahaha except here they don't have anything so we finished in like an hour hahah. Otro que eso we didn't do much just chill! This next week should be good I hope. We have conference on Wednesday which always makes me super pumped hahaha. Ok, love you all! I'll see you later! 6 MONTHS YEEHAW!!! Que dice familia?!
This week went by super fast but nothing really happened hahaha. Another storm came in and so it rained dang hard on Thursday, Viernes, Saturday, and Sunday. Which really blows for working when all you do is walk around outside hahaha. It's so weird here whenever it rains or is "cold", people shut themselves in there houses and don't want to talk or visit with us at all. That's ok though! We found some awesome people this week despite the trash circumstances. One is a joven named Adolfo who has like 19 years and is sooo dope. We taught him the restauracion and everything and then he told us he wants to become like us and share the gospel with todo. So I mean that's freaking sick, right? hahaha We're hoping he can be baptized in the next few weeks but we'll see what happens. Another is a lady named Xiomara who has 21 years and is practically what you call a golden investigator. Other than the fact that she and her "esposo" aren't married hahaha. Her boyfriend is a member but inactive. His mom is a super active in the ward. She introduced Xiomara to the church and gave her a book of mormon and everything and when we showed up to teach her she just straight up told us she wants to get baptized hahaha. So right now we're helping her so that she can get married and then in the next few weeks she should be good to go! Awesome people here in Macuspana la verdad. Today for pday we went and played soccer with the joveness in the ward which is always dang fun. They also had a basketball and everyone wanted to play me hahaha I mean I'm trash but they think I'm like the next Kobe but white lol. Then we went with an Hermana in the ward and I taught her how to make crepes! So dang good and they all love crepes for some reason hahaha. Well, that's all I've got for this week! Oh, also we ate a giant turtle this week!! It's called Wow and it is freakin weird hahaha. It tastes pretty good but the meat is all slimy and stuff hahaha. Ok that's it! I love you all. Viva México! Buenas Tardes Damas y Caballeros!
It was a pretty dang stressful week here in Macuspana hahahaha It really blows when you don't have any idea where you are or where you are going or who anyone is. hahaha That's just part of the experience no? I was supposed to get a new comp but I think President decided to leave Elder Wilde here for a while. He is a cool guy. He is 23, from St. George and has been out 9 months. It is super fun to have another set of elders in the house. The Mexican guy is super funny. We finally got lights about half way through the week. It was a good week and a lot of new stuff though! Macuspana is more of a city-ish but mas o menos. It's a lot like the Frontera. Just Mexico! The members here are super cool though and there is a ton of work to be done so it's all good! The problem here is that no one is freaking married! hahahaha We started visiting like 4 different people this week and none of them are married! That's ok though, that's why we're here lol. This week we actually did more service than I have done my whole the mish combined hahaha. One hermana needed us to put up some screens in her "windows" (Just giant holes lol) but they don't have tools here para nada. hahaha Dad you would die here. hahaha Another hermana needed us to rebuild a bunch of chairs for her and another needed us to fix their food cart. People here don't really know how to do much hahaha You give them a hammer and they don't know what to do with it. Today for p-day we did the coolest thing I've done so far!!!! We went to a place called Agua Blanca that is close to Macuspana. It is this super dope place that has a bunch of waterfalls and a ginormous cueva. It was so sick! We had to hike a bit and it was like everyone was going to die when we got to the top of the trail. hahaha I mean, I workout everyday but still I'm not in the best shape! It is kind of hard to do cardio. hahaha It was insane! We were looking around in the cave and found the holy book just lying there! We might've found where Ether was hiding out in the caves hahaha. Well, it's been an awesome week here and I'm hoping it just gets better from here! I love you all and hope you all have a good time this week! What up everyone!!!! Holy shaz! It has been a freaking crazy day! hahaha I got transferred to a place called Macuspana, Tabasco with a gringo comp named Elder Wilde. To get here completely sucked! hahaha We had to walk through the streets of Villa with all of our maletas in the pouring rain! It didn't help that I have 3 freaking suitcases lol. It blows but I need my stuff! I had to make room for my Krusteez pancake mix hahaha. Macuspana is a way cool area but it's a super weird situation because they are splitting our area into 2 and another set of elders came today as well. We are living 4 in the house which is really gonna be interesting. hahahaa The house is a little different i'll have to admit! There aren't any lights! hahaha So when it's dark it will just be dark! hahaha. The situation is pretty different because Elder Wilde is going to teach us the area this week and then he's going to leave and I will get another comp here! So basically all 4 of us will be super lost for a while hahahah but that's the mish! I'm super excited about this cambio though an know it's gonna be dope! This last week was pretty depressing I'm not gonna lie. All of the members were so sad that I was leaving! It made me want to stay so bad but what can you do. We ate more tacos and drank more coke that I ever have in my life! hahaha I've been in Mexico for almost 6 months! Can you believe it?! Like every family that we were visiting wanted to do something crazy for my last week in Frontera so I wouldn't be surprised if I have gained a couple pounds. This last Thursday we had our interviews with President which I always think are super cool. He leaves in Junio so I'll have a new Pres for the second half of my mish! After our interviews we went and got another Dairy Queen which is just like a little taste of heaven hahaha. Well thats all i got the week so I hope you're satisfied. Hope you all have a great week! I love you all - the church is true! What up my dudes!
This last week was freaking awesome! It started off a little rough because of the New Year so we couldn't work much but we had some good times with the members! As always when we don't have anything to do, we went and chilled at the bishops house and played some UNO in spanish (Lol get it? UNO hahaha). The week sure sped up with another baptism! Alexis got baptized this saturday and it was freaking dope! I had the opportunity to do the ordenanza which I think is always something cool. He's an awesome kid for sure and I see big things coming his way in the church! Speaking of church, how cool is the new horario?! 2 hours makes it feel like it goes by so fast honestly. hahaha It's weird because now we'll only teach principios del evangelio every other week. Super awesome change I think. We've started doing algunas activities in the ward which will hopefully bring in some more people to teach! We started english classes on Thursdays--no one came this week. hahahaha It's not starting off very good but maybe that'll change. We are gonna play futbol with the jovenes on Saturdays! For that we had like 15 people show up so everyone wants to play but no one wants to learn. Yesterday was El Día de los Reyes, I don't really understand what it is but some catholic thing with the wisemen. We went over and did a family home evening with the obispo and had some cake and it was good stuff. Then today for p-day we went and learned how to make this cake called carlota with an hermana in the ward! Super easy to make but it is so freaking good hahaha I'll make it when I get back! Only 18 months hahahahaha. Well that's pretty much the week! Doesn't sound too exciting but it was dope. Super excited for the cambios this week! I should be leaving Frontera so that's gonna be exciting. Ready for a new adventure and a new comp hahahaha. I love you all. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
Well shoot guys it’s 2019! That is so crazy to me because time is flying! This year will be full of serving and Mexicans hahahahaha. I hope everyone has a good goal for the year (even though they’re all forgotten by February lol) because we can’t accomplish anything unless we put our mind to it first. My goal this year is read all the books that I have like Jesus the Christ and stuff like that, and of course not die. Well, sorry I didn’t email yesterday! We were in Villa all day and then got back to Frontera at like 5:30 pm to go email and the cyber was closing because of New Year’s Eve! It’s ok cause here we are and it’s all good. Everyone here was out partying until like 5 am this morning and they’re just gonna sleep the whole day today hahaha. They were doing fireworks for soooo long last night too! They make this “año viejos” which are just paper old guys they blow to pass into the new year! Pretty crazy right?! hahahah It sounded like there were bombs going off last night. Christmas this last week was the best thing ever! First for Christmas Eve we went to this families house and ate more food than I ever thought possible. Then for Christmas the best thing in the world was talking to the fam!!! Not gonna lie it made me wanna chill with you guys so bad hahahah. That was the best and made my day! Then we made cookies and it was a good time! Other than that it was a pretty dang slow week. No one really wanted to talk to us but that’s ok it’s the holidays and I'm sure it’ll turn up! Then this week we’re gonna have another baptism! It’s this joven named Alexis (a guy lol) who’s like 14 and loves the church! We found him about a month ago and he hadn’t missed a week so far! It’s only gonna get easier for him to come with the 2 hour church schedule. I’m super excited for the baptism, we started teaching his dad but he didn’t want to listen and now he’s been trying to talk Alexis out of getting baptized. Alexis always says “I know this is what I need to do”. Such a strong testimony from a 14 year old who has been going to church for a month! He is such an awesome kid. I am so pumped for him! Yesterday for p-day we went to Villa and played soccer with the zona and ate tacos. It was a classic Mexican day hahahaha. Then on the way home we got a freaking BLIZZARD FROM DAIRY QUEEN!!!!! Got a nice butter finger and it was probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten hahaha. When we got to Frontera the bishop invited us over for some food and cake for New Years Eve and it was dope! It blows my mind that it’s already the New Year! This will be my only full year in the mish so I better make it a good one! Love you all! |
