Called To Serve
July 2018 - July 2020
Andrew's call was the best gift ever! It was so good to hear his voice and see that amazing and infectious smile. The highlight of the call was when Andrew burst into laughter when his brothers were all speaking Spanish to him. We asked him what was so funny and he said he can finally understand what they are saying! I am sure he finally felt like one of the guys since they have kept him in the dark for years:)
Andrew's love for the people he is serving is apparent and his testimony of the gospel continues to grow. WE LOVE OUR MISSIONARY! Merry Christmas

Feliz Navidad Familia!!!!
Well shoot, my dudes, my mind is blown that it is Christmas already!!! You have no idea how pumped I am to call tomorrow! It is gonna be the best thing ever. I think tomorrow when we get together with the other Elders at the bishops house, we're gonna make cookies and stuff which is will be a little taste of home! I'm super excited though. It's gonna be so good to talk to people who are just regular Americans hahaha. Tonight for Christmas eve we are going go to an hermanas house and play games and do a little family home evening which will be super fun. This last week was the most productive week so far in the mish! We had 4 BAPTISMS!!! We found this family who are relatives to the Elders quorum president. We were able to teach them and baptize them in a week! They had all gone to church a few times already so it was super easy to get it all figured out. The Hermana who we baptized se llama Marcela and her sons are named Daniel, Miguel, y Damian. Super cool family and they think I'm the coolest person ever because I'm white and speak English hahahah Then we went and played soccer with them the other day and they acted like I was freaking Donovan Mitchell (Yeehaw baby) when I dunked it! lolol Super awesome family though and I think they're gonna progress super fast in the church! Damian nos dijo que he wants to go on a mission already so let's see about that haha! We had the ward Christmas party on Wednesday and wow it was a little different than the parties back home hahaha. It was full of a million little mexis dancing to Feliz Navidad and a bunch of piñatas! So much fun I'm not gonna lie and it's always a golden opportunity to get to know the members and more importantly nonmember friends! Pues espero que ustedes tengan un Feliz Navidad y disfruten este tiempo con sus familias!! Les amo un buen Feliz Navidaddy my dudes!!!
This week was probably the most exciting week in a long time! hahaha We didn't end up having any baptisms but this next week we should have 4!!! It's gonna be so awesome. We found this family who is familia de the president of the elders quorum here in the ward! It is an Hermana named Marcala and her 3 kids Daniel, Miguel, y Damian. They are super excited and when they're excited it makes everything so much easier and super fun on the mish! We'll see what happens with them this week. Hopefully everything goes well. This last week it rained balls which makes it rough to work sometimes. As I've said before, you gotta do what you gotta do! Here you either walk in the heat of the devils anus or it pours like balls all day. hahaha It's ok though because we're getting stuff done! Friday we had our Zone Conference in Zapata which is about 3 hours away from Frontera. It was quite the experience let me tell ya hahahaha. We had to go and sleep in the house of some other elders and I was expecting it just to be like us and them. When we showed up there were 12 of us and 2 beds!!! Long story short we went to bed at like 2 am and I slept on a tile floor hahahaha! It was super fun being with other elders though! Then at zone conference we had a such a fun time! We just played games and read Luke 2 and stuff. It was dope! They want us to try to read that with our investigators which I think is an awesome thing because what better way to remember Christ than reading about his Birth!!! On top of that, we had burgers and CHEESECAKE!!!!!! Anyone who's me, knows I freaking love cheesecake! hahahaha I also picked up my christmas packages! I have to say, I LOVE MY FAMILY! hahaha I am stacked with stuff now and am so pumped! I started handing out some of the pop rock candies you sent and everyone thinks it's awesome because it's "American Candy" hahahaha. THANK YOU so much Familia! I love you guys! Also, my boy Nate hooked me up with maybe the best gift I've ever gotten! I love the mug hahahhahahaha I laugh every time I drink out of it. Love you Nay! This Sunday I finally got to try the famous food from Tobasco!!! It's a fish se llama Pejelagarto and it is freaking weird looking. It tasted so good! It was quite the experience though. Then today we went to a members house who lives on the beach and played soccer and everything it was dope! Nothing like chillin with my toes in the sand hahaha. I can't believe it's already Christmas! I'm so pumped to call home! It is gonna be the best day eve!r hahahah I know I still have another week though so hopefully it's a good one and everything goes smooth. Hope everyone has an awesome week! I love you all!! Adioooos How are my fans doing this week?
This week has been so different than the last 3 months here in Frontera! hahaha Being here with my new comp Elder Vasquez has been interesting I can tell you that. He really likes comic books and naps. hahahaha He's a pretty cool guy though! This week I've seen my spanish improve more than it did in my first 2 cambios combined. It's so weird something just like clicked and now I know everything everyone says and it is super easy to talk to people now. hahaha Talk about the gift of tongues right there. This last week we were trying to find some more people to teach. Let me tell you it was pretty annoying. There were a couple days that we had citas set for the entire day until like 9 and then absolutely no one was home lol. One day we finished super early and didn't know what to do so we went to a members house. They told us that the next couple of weeks are going to be hard to find and teach people. Everyone is partying or no one is home. It's crazy, like every night there is a ginormous crowd following the Virgin Guadalupe down the street. hahaha That's not the best thing for missionary work hahaha. No worries, that only happened for about 2 days and then we found some awesome people! One of our investigators right now is named Alexis and he is a freaking awesome kid. I would call him a "golden investigator" hahaha He loves reading the Book of Mormon and learning more and more. He thinks the church is the coolest thing ever! He will probably be baptized next week which will be sick! It has rained everyday this week which has made walking around not that fun but you gotta do what you gotta do! I think I'm just gonna throw away my paraguas because it doesn't help at all with the rain. The rain goes completely sideways so it's pointless! hahaha I had to speak in church yesterday for the first time and I was suuuper nervous at first because I'm not one for talks. hahaha The Bishop asked us to just speak on the obra misional which is such an easy topic because that's what we do every freaking day. I thought it went pretty dang good and a bunch of members came up and told me like "Wow it's so nice that you can actually speak now" hahahaha Andrew-1 Mexicans-0. Something really funny this week- We were down by the river looking at the sunset and everything and this wasted guy came up right next to us and whips it out and starts taking a pee right by us hahahaha. We were just standing there and he said "No manches guay el sol es bien grande" hahahahaha I always love talking to drunk guys! hahaha. They make no sense at all. Well. that's all I've got. This week we have zone conference which should be dope because of Christmas. So pumped only like two more weeks to call home! Love you all and have a good week! What up!!!
How is everyone doing back home? It has been a pretty dang exciting week here in Mexico. We had cambios today and I have a new comp here in Frontera! His name is Elder Vasques from Peru. He seems like a pretty cool guy and I'm just super pumped because my Spanish will improve a ton. I already know it. My old comp Elder Albrecht went to be a Zone Leader in Balancan which is about 3 hours from here. It's going to be a great cambio to have Christmas! I can't believe Christmas is almost here! It is going to be awesome! I have to say that I'm so ready to call home! hahaha The ward here in Frontera should be an awesome place to spend the Holidays. I just can't believe it's December already and I've been out 4 Months now! This past week we had a baptism too! We baptized a boy named Kevin who is a total champ. His family are all members but they became less active and we have been working to reactivate them. They've been coming to church a bunch lately so it's been dope! Albrecht did the baptism and it was awesome. The family was soooo happy which makes all the long days worth it! We went to the Church last night to watch the Christmas devotional with the First Presidency. It was awesome to hear about the true meaning of Christmas. President Nelson talked about how we need to love as he loved and continue growing closer to Christ. Lately we've been doing the Light the World campaign and it has been amazing so far. Everyone who has watched the videos almost starts crying. hahahaha Talk about some strong stuff right there! Light the World is something that can make us think of others and grow our own testimonies as well as others. Hoping I can have another fun cambio here in Frontera and that we can have some success too! So excited to see what Vasques and I can do. We're going to have a dang good time over Christmas even though it's still a million degrees here hahaha. Hoping everyone has an awesome week! Love you all. Ahoy Friends!
This week went by so fast I can't believe it! We're in the last week of the cambio now and then I'll get a new comp here in Frontera! We had a pretty dang good week I'd say. This week we didn't have any baptisms but we found quite a few new people to teach and we're hoping we'll be able to baptize them in the next cambio! One of the people we found is a 14 year old boy named Alexis who we contacted at his house. We don't contact much but for some for some reason we bumped into him and he is actually loving the church! We've been teaching the lessons and stuff and if he can come to church more he wants to be baptized in a few weeks! He is an awesome kid and I think he's gonna progress super fast hahaha. This last friday we did divisions with another companionship in our district because my comp had to do some interviews. I stayed here in Frontera with a little Peruvian named Elder Florez and who was freaking funny hahaha. He lives in Lima and he thought it was hyped that Hunt served in Arequipa! He was telling me all about the culture and stuff down there and about the Guinea pigs that they eat called Cuy or something? It sounded dope hahaha. We just visited people all day and then Albrecht and the comp of Florez came back to Frontera. Florez and Jales got stuck here because there were no more taxis or combis driving back to their area because it was too late! They had to crash at our house which was quite the adventure might I say hahaha. They said that my spanish is getting pretty good though so that made me super pumped! We're going to have another baptism this week! His name is Kevin and he is 9, super awesome kid. His whole family went inactive so he never got baptized but we've been visiting them and everything so they're coming back to church! It's a pretty for sure baptism but honestly you never know with some of the people down here hahaha. Today for p-day we didn't do much. Just cleaned house and went to chill at the bishops! His wife made us some bomb tostadas that were freaking amazing. Well, that's pretty much my week. We didn't do anything for Thanksgiving because people have no idea what it is here. hahahah That's ok though cause only one more month until Christmas! Love you all! Good luck this week. What up fam?!
First, Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Amigos! I am so thankful for your love and support. This last week had its high and low moments for sure hahahaha. We actually had a pretty successful week with finding people which was dope! But at the same time we barely had any time to work. lol This week it rained for 3 straight days soooo hard and believe it or not it was actually "cold" hahaha It was like 60 which is freezing for the people hear! There were people in like full snow clothes and it was so funny hahaha. Since the weather was so bad we had to stay inside pretty much all day Wednesday and Thursday so it got pretty boring let me tell you hahaha. That's ok though. Nothing can stop us! Friday we had Zone Conference which was awesome as always! I always love conference just because it switches things up a bit and you can see everyone. We had 3 zones there so there were about 60 missionaries! President Haws taught us about the importance of working with members and keeping a good relationship with the people in our areas. He also talked about how we need to make sure to treat our investigators as people and not as numbers. Sometimes the missionaries here get too carried away with reaching our baptism goals and things get less important, but we're here to baptize people not numbers! At the conference I also got pulled aside because president wanted to talk to me about Grandpa's passing. I'm not gonna lie, I just wanted to go home when I heard about it. I know that I have a job to do here. I'm here to help people understand the plan of God and that we can see our loved ones again! I'm always going to think about that and will never forget good ole Gramps! Love that guy and can't wait to see him again. Also, I got all of my packages!!! I am so freaking pumped! hahahah Thank you!!! Nothing like my birthday in November! All of that stuff is gonna last me a long time and people have already been trying to trade for my ties hahaha. Today we went and played futball with the zone which is always a good time. Other than that we just went to eat some tacos and chill! This next week we won't have any baptisms but in the next week we should have at least one but hopefully more! It's has been an awesome week but hoping we can do even better this week! Love you all and Happy Thanksgiving!!! What's up people!
Another week has gone bye and we're already half way done with the cambio! So crazy! This week was pretty uneventful I have to say. We walked around a ton in balls hot weather and only taught a couple of lessons. No one really wanted to talk to us this week. hahahaha. The work is still moving along though! We aren't going to have a baptism this week and I don't think the next week but then we should have another 1 or 2 the last week of the transfer! I had a weird yet mind blowing experience this last week though. So, in the morning I was studying my scriptures like usual and for some reason started reading in 1 John. I came across this scripture that I had never read before in 1 John 4: 8 that says "Whosoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." And I thought dang! that is such a cool scripture! Then later that day we were in a lesson with this couple named Nelio and Lady, and Lady told us she was reading in the bible that morning in freaking 1 John and then quote the freaking scripture!! I was like what the heck?! Did that just happen?! hahahahaha It was soooo weird but such a cool experience! So crazy how the Lord guides us to help those in our lives that need him. We did divisions with the zone leaders this last Friday and it actually made me feel super good about my spanish! I was with this little guy from Honduras named Elder Antunez who doesn't speak a word of English and it wasn't hard at all to talk to him all day. So pumped for this next transfer because I should be getting a latino comp and that's when my spanish will improve the most. Today we didn't do much because really there isn't that much to do here. We went to this place to get these smoothie things called Chamoyadas and they were the best things in my freaking life! hahaha Then we went to hangout with some members in the ward and now we're here! Just the day I needed though. We have Zone conference this next week and I always get super excited for conference because we get to see a bunch of other people and also I get my packages!!!! Hahahaha Well that's all I've got for this week! Love you all!!! and Remember . . .The Church is True! Two Baptisms heck ya baby!!
It was quite the exciting week I have to say! It was suuuuper busy because we had to fit everything in by like 6pm everyday, for El Dia de Los Muertos. It is just too dangerous for us to be out but we got everything done and done RIGHT! On Thursday we had the baptisms of Ernesto and Irven and it was freaking dope! They were super excited and I can already tell they are going to progress super fast in the church. Yesterday at church they were confirmed and then after Irven, who is 17, got up and shared his testimony in sacrament!!! I was like, holy balls, I don't even do that and I've been a member of the church my whole life! hahahaha What a freaking beast! Am i right?! He has such a strong testimony of the savior. He wants to go to the temple so bad so the bishop is going to give him an interview this week. I think they're going to go to the temple in a couple weeks! How dope is that?! hahahah Talk about a testimony builder for me right there! Irven will do great things in the church and in his life. He is just that kind of person. I already know, he's so excited to learn and grow it's honestly inspiring! Other than the baptism it was a pretty chill week! A bunch of members wanted to give us food and candy and cake and stuff for the holiday. It was dope! hahahah We had this BOMB tres leches and you know it was legit cause a freaking Mexican lady made it!!! hahahah Some of the food wasn't that good though hahaha We ate at this one hermanas house this week and when we got there I looked at the plate and it was legit, just half of a fish! hahahaha and you know how I like fish! It really didn't taste bad it was just looking at it that made it so weird to eat! We also found this homemade ice cream place in the middle of nowhere and they had pistachio ice cream!!!! You already know I was willing to pay anything for that hahaha even though it was only like 15 pesos which is less than a dollar! It's nice to have some stuff that reminds you of home. Everyone who actually knows me knows that I freaking love ice cream. Today we didn't do much just went to the markets and looked around and stuff but it was exactly what I needed. Last week made me so tired for some reason. hahaha This week should be some good stuff too though! I don't think we'll have another baptism but we're hoping to get a few in the water next week! I just can't believe it's November already. hahahah Talk about time flying! Can't wait to see what we can do this week! Love you all and the church is true!!! Happy Birthday MOM!!!!
Dang, it's weird not being home for your birthday but that's ok, I'll only miss one more. hahahah This week was pretty busy but it doesn't feel like much happened. hahaha We have been trying to find some more people to teach and walked across Frontera like a million times. It'll pay off though! We found a couple more people who want to learn more about the gospel so hopefully we can teach them some more. We have 2 baptisms this week which will be awesome. One is a kid named Ernesto who has 10 and one is a kid named Irven who is 17. They are some awesome guys who have been waiting a long time to be baptized so it's gonna be dope! Other than that I think it will be a pretty slow week because it's El Dia de Los Muertos and it gets too dangerous for us to be out. I bet we are going to have some amazing food this week! The food here is sooo good actually. hahaha For the most part it's a lot of chicken and rice but we get some good stuff too! The other day we had something called chicharones which is like pig skin. hahaha It sounds freaking weird but it is actually so rica!! There's a picture of it lol It looks gross but is way good. Today we went to one of the members beach house just to chill and play soccer. It was so fun! It's crazy how pretty it is down here. hahaha I love it! It's finally starting to get better with my spanish! I don't know what happened but this last week something just clicked and I can understand people so much better now! I have no idea what happened besides the freaking gift of tongues! hahaha Well, I'm hoping this week is as good as the last and I hope everyone has a good halloween! Balls, we're almost in December what the heck !hahaha Love you all!!!! |
